Just 15 km from the city we can find therisso. A small well hidden village at the foothills of the white mountains, with lots of history. Driving through an asphalt road and passing a gorge, you will reach the village Therisso – a small village that is famous for the bravery between the Cretan people against the Ottoman domination. One of the most famous politicians of Greece “Eleftherios Venizelos” started the revolution in 1905 to unify Crete with Greece.

While visiting Therisso, it is worth it to stop in some tavernas and enjoy the Cretan lamb and other local specialties cooked the traditional Cretan way.
