The palace of Knossos rightly belongs to the list of the most fascinating sights of Crete.
The Minoan palace is the most important archaeological site of Crete and is the largest in Greece. It is located 20 minutes south of Heraklion while it was inhabited in the 7th millennium for several thousand years. It was destroyed and abandoned around 1380 BC, which marked the end of the Minoan civilization.
